家庭教育是孩子的第一個教育環境

不知曾幾何時,台灣父母將許多幼兒在家庭的基本教育義務逐漸交給學校老師教導。這裡提到的家庭教育內含包括親職教育、子職教育、性別教育、倫理教育等等的價值觀建立,學齡前幼童待在家裡時間長,教育環境、習慣建立等皆在家庭養成。現今忙碌社會中,有多少父母瞭解、懂得去教導自己學齡前的孩子?孩子成長過程中,教育部課綱多次改革,又有多少家長認真地去徹底研究哪裡出了問題呢?

近期社會議題浮現 反映成人教育的失敗

看見、聽見許多家長抱怨教育部教改的失敗、學校教育的問題等等,然而,回歸現實生活上,我們輕易發現到,父母為了生計且工作繁忙,無力也無心為下一代教育做出任何實質行動。許多成年人畢業離開校園後,許多人幾乎所有重心放在工作、結婚後其次在家庭,鮮少人記得持續保有獨立思考的及理性思辨的重要性和學習。因此我們能期待有多高比例的父母能夠透過獨立思考後的概念想法運用在快速變遷的社會脈絡之中,並將思慮過後之價值觀轉換在幼童家庭教育上呢?

Family as the primary environment where children learn

Parents in Taiwan have gradually relented the responsibility to educate their children to teachers at school. Family education entails aspects such as parenting, parent-child relationship, sex and gender education, as well as ethics education. Preschoolers spend a great deal of time at home, with many of their habits formed in the environment of their home. In today’s busy society, do parents know how to educate their preschoolers? Have parents taken time to understand educational reforms that ever so greatly influence their children?

Recent social issues reflect badly on adult education

We often hear complaints from parents about failed educational reforms. However, parents, busy with making ends meet, often feel helpless when it comes to educating their children with concrete action plans. Many adults have their career as their priority, and their family sometimes comes second. Few would take the time to learn to think critically and rationally. In this case, how can we expect that they would be able to critically examine the current social issues before communicating their opinions with their children?
